Mirleft is a small town on the cliffs of Morocco's southern Atlantic coast, about 40 km south-west of Tiznit on the coast road to Sidi Ifni. It is known for a string of sandy coves below the cliffs, steady surf, paragliding and an easy, unhurried pace. Three of our villas are on the edge of Mirleft itself, and eight more sit about 20 minutes north on Tamelalt Beach.
How to get to Mirleft
The closest large airport is Agadir Al Massira (AGA), with direct flights from many European cities. From the airport the drive to Mirleft takes around two hours: south towards Tiznit, then west to the coast and along the coast road through Aglou and Tamelalt. Guelmim airport (GLN) is closer, about an hour and a quarter away, but has far fewer flights.
There is no train south of Marrakech, so most visitors hire a car or book a private transfer. Grand taxis and buses run from Agadir and Tiznit to Mirleft, but a car makes it much easier to explore the coves and the coast towards Legzira and Sidi Ifni. We can arrange an airport transfer on request.
Our villas in and near Mirleft
DreamCatcher Cliffside Haven, DreamCatcher Infinity and DreamCatcher Kasbah are on the cliffs at the northern edge of Mirleft, roughly 1.5 km from the town centre: about five minutes by car or a 20-minute walk. Each has a private pool and terraces facing the ocean.
If you prefer a long sandy beach on your doorstep, our Tamelalt and Club Evasion villas are about 20 km north, roughly 20 minutes by car. Many guests split their stay or drive down to Mirleft for dinner.
Hotel, guesthouse or villa in Mirleft?
Mirleft has no large resort hotels. Accommodation is mostly small hotels and guesthouses (maisons d'hôtes) in and around the town centre, a few surf hostels near Aftas beach, and private villas on the cliffs and along the coast road to Tamelalt.
A hotel or guesthouse suits a short stay or a solo trip: a room, breakfast and the town on your doorstep. For couples, families and friends staying several nights, a villa usually gives more for the money: your own pool, a full kitchen, terraces facing the ocean and room for everyone, at a price per night that is often close to two hotel rooms.
Our villas sit between the two: private houses with hotel-style help when you want it. We arrange airport transfers, recommend surf schools and paragliding pilots, and the Ocean Dunes House restaurant and Dunes Beach Bar are right by our Tamelalt villas. Booking is direct, with free cancellation and no prepayment.
Mirleft's beaches
Mirleft's coast is a series of coves separated by rocky headlands. Plage Imin Turga, just below the town, is the easiest to reach and has a few cafés. Aftas beach is a wide, sheltered bay a little to the south and is a favourite for swimming and beginner surfing. Further south, Marabout beach is named after the small white shrine on its rocks, and quieter coves continue towards Sidi Mohamed Ou Abdallah.
The Atlantic here is powerful. Swim where others swim, avoid the water near rocks and at low tide, and ask locally about currents.
Things to do in Mirleft
Mirleft is one of Morocco's best-known paragliding spots: steady sea breezes lift along the cliffs, and local schools offer tandem flights. The coves have reliable surf from autumn to spring, with surf schools and board rental in town.
On land, walk the cliff paths between the beaches, climb to the ruined fort above town for the view, and browse the main street's small shops for Berber silver, rugs and argan oil. Legzira's red rock arch is about 20 minutes south, and the old Spanish town of Sidi Ifni about 35 minutes beyond.
Where to eat
Mirleft's main street has simple cafés and restaurants serving tagines, couscous and grilled fish, plus a handful of places with a more European menu. Fish is the thing to order: much of it comes from the small ports along this coast.
Near our Tamelalt villas, the Ocean Dunes House restaurant and the Dunes Beach Bar serve Moroccan, Mediterranean and international dishes by the sea. Every villa also has a full kitchen if you'd rather cook with produce from the market.
Best time to visit Mirleft
The climate is mild all year. Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) bring warm days, fewer crowds and the clearest skies. July and August are the busiest months, with Moroccan families on holiday and morning sea mist that usually burns off by midday.
Winter days are often 18–22°C and sunny, with cooler evenings: a good escape from Europe, and the best season for surf. The sea stays fresh, around 17–22°C through the year.
