Sidi Ifni is a blue-and-white town on a cliff above the Atlantic, Spanish until 1969 and still full of Art Deco buildings from that time. It has a long beach, a busy fishing port and a slow, slightly faded charm. Our villas in Mirleft are about 35 minutes north, with Legzira's red arch on the way.
How to get to Sidi Ifni
Sidi Ifni is about 2 hours 30 minutes by car from Agadir Al Massira airport (AGA). Guelmim airport (GLN) is closer, around an hour away, but has fewer flights. Buses and grand taxis connect Sidi Ifni with Tiznit, Mirleft and Guelmim.
From our Mirleft villas, follow the coast road south for about 35 km, roughly 35–40 minutes. From Tamelalt and Club Evasion allow about 55 minutes.
Staying near Sidi Ifni
Sidi Ifni has a few small hotels and guesthouses. If you want a private pool, more space and a quieter base, our villas in Mirleft are close enough to make Ifni an easy day trip, with Legzira beach halfway between the two.
DreamCatcher Cliffside Haven, Infinity and Kasbah sit on the cliffs at the edge of Mirleft, each with a pool and ocean views.
The Spanish town
Spain ruled Ifni from 1934 to 1969, and the centre still shows it: whitewashed buildings with blue trim, Art Deco facades and a broad main square, Place Hassan II, once the Plaza de España. Around it stand the former Spanish consulate, the old church and colonial villas.
Walk to the clifftop promenade for views over the beach, look for the lighthouse and the unusual ship-shaped building above the sea, and spend some time in the cafés where life moves slowly.
Beach, port and surf
Below the town, a long sandy beach is popular with surfers, especially from autumn to spring. South of the centre, the fishing port is busy in the morning when the boats come in.
About 10 km north, Legzira beach is famous for its red sandstone arch, best visited at low tide and at sunset. It is easy to combine with a day in Ifni on the drive back to Mirleft.
Where to eat
Fresh fish is the highlight: simple restaurants near the port and in town grill the day's catch, often with Moroccan salads and bread. Cafés around the main square serve breakfast, mint tea and pastries.
In Mirleft, the main street has more choice in the evening, and every villa has a full kitchen if you buy fish to cook yourself.
Best time to visit Sidi Ifni
The coast is mild all year. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant for walking around town; winter is sunny and the best time for surf. In summer, mornings are often misty, with the sun appearing by lunchtime.
The weekly souk and the port bring the town to life on market days, so ask locally which day it is held during your stay.
