Aglou Plage is the beach of Tiznit: a long stretch of sand about 15 km from the city, with a surf break, a fishermen's cave village carved into the cliffs and a relaxed seaside village behind it. Our Tamelalt and Club Evasion villas are about 20 minutes south along the coast road, close enough for a morning surf in Aglou and quieter than the village in summer.
How to get to Aglou
From Agadir Al Massira airport (AGA), Aglou is about an hour and a half by car: south on the main road to Tiznit, then 15 km west to the sea. From Tiznit, grand taxis run to Aglou throughout the day.
From our villas in Tamelalt and Club Evasion, follow the coast road north for roughly 20 km, about 20 minutes. From our Mirleft villas it is about 40 km, around 40 minutes.
Staying near Aglou
Aglou village has small hotels and apartments, many of them busy with Moroccan families in July and August. If you want space, a private pool and a quieter beach, our villas on Tamelalt Beach are a good base: Aglou's surf and cafés are a short drive away, and Mirleft is 20 minutes in the other direction.
Club Evasion's sea-front villas are about 50 metres from the sand, and the two Tamelalt villas sit just behind the beach in the village.
The beach and the cave village
Aglou's beach is wide and long, with room to walk for kilometres at low tide. At its northern end, fishermen once carved homes and stores into the soft cliff: the troglodyte village of Aglou, still used by some fishing families, is one of the most photographed spots on this coast.
Near the beach stands the shrine of Sidi Moussa, and the small fishing activity gives the place a lived-in feel outside the summer season.
Surfing and things to do
Aglou has a beach break that works well for beginners and intermediates, with the best and most consistent waves from autumn to spring. Surf schools and camps in the village rent boards and wetsuits.
Beyond the beach, Aglou is the gateway to Tiznit, 15 km inland, with its walled medina and famous silver souk: an easy half-day trip. Further north, the Souss-Massa National Park protects river estuaries and coastal dunes known for birdlife.
Where to eat
Along the seafront and in the village you'll find simple cafés and restaurants serving grilled fish, seafood, tagines and fresh juice. Prices are modest and portions generous.
Back at Tamelalt, the Ocean Dunes House restaurant and the Dunes Beach Bar are close to our Club Evasion villas, and every villa has a full kitchen.
Best time to visit Aglou
For surf, come between October and April, when Atlantic swells are most consistent and the weather is mild and sunny. For swimming and lazy beach days, May, June and September offer warm weather with far fewer people than high summer.
July and August are lively and full, with Moroccan families on holiday; mornings can be misty along the coast.
