The coast between Aglou and Mirleft picks up Atlantic swell almost all year, with sandy beach breaks for beginners and punchier waves around the rocky points. It's far quieter than the famous breaks north of Agadir, and our villas sit right between the two surf towns.
Aglou: the beginner-friendly beach break
Aglou's long sandy beach, 15 km from Tiznit, has several peaks that shift with the sand banks. On small and medium days it is one of the easiest places on this coast to learn, with soft white water and room to spread out. Surf schools in the village rent boards and offer lessons.
When the swell is bigger, the waves get heavier and the currents stronger: stay close to other surfers and ask locally about the day's conditions.
Mirleft: coves and points
Mirleft's coast is a string of coves between rocky headlands. Sheltered bays such as Aftas often hold small, friendly waves, while the points and reefs around town work on bigger swells and suit experienced surfers. Several surf shops and schools in Mirleft rent equipment and run lessons and guided sessions.
Rocks are never far away here: check where the reef is, watch a few sets before paddling out and avoid surfing alone.
When to come
From October to April, Atlantic storms send regular swell and the weather is mild and sunny: the classic surf season. Spring and autumn bring the best mix of waves and warm days. In summer the waves are smaller, which suits beginners, and the beaches are busier in July and August.
A surf trip from our villas
Our Tamelalt and Club Evasion villas are about 20 minutes from both Aglou and Mirleft, so you can follow the best conditions each day. Our three Mirleft villas are five minutes from the town's coves. Every villa has parking, a terrace for drying wetsuits and a private pool for after the session.
