The Vista Village subdivision was started in Port Arthur, Texas in the 1970's as mastered planned middle income neighborhood. Majority of the buyers were employed by the oil, gas, and petro chemical industries. Unfortunately, in the 80's the industries had a down turn. The Vista Village subdivision was never completed by the orginal developer. Vista Village has been and is considered one of the highest quality neighborhoods in the City of Port Arthur Texas. With 172 planned, plotted, and approved undeveloped lots, Big Wheel Development Inc. (Developer), Dream Catcher Builders Inc. (Builder) and the City of Port Arthur has entered into an agreement to bring Vista Village to its full development.
The development consist of 172 new affordable home porice ranging from the low $100's to $180's. These new homes standard features will include tile entry, ceiling fans, two car garage, washer dryer, wiring for (cable, telephone, internet and alarm). There has not been an affordable home subdivision built in the City of Port Arthur in over 30 years. The city is in need of 600 or more affordable houses since Hurricane Rita 2005. The expectation of thousands of jobs will be created from the $4.5 billion refinery by Motiva which is currently under construction. This will be the first refinery built in the United States in over 30 years. The Vista Village location is apponimately 3 miles form Motiva Refinery. |
